Discussing Introducing Tell a Friend Giveaways

Made by lizamae99 at 01 Dec 11:24

Dear Ideeli team,

Thank you for all the great finds that you so regularly offer. In previewing your Jamin Puech handbag, you state that it is decorated with "sequence". A sequence is a pattern, not a sparkly little decoration.  Those are Sequins!  All of America seems to be falling into this trap- just take a quick tour of the word at ebay- it's a mess. You are Fashion People, please don't add to our mis-education!

Many thanks,

L'Mae

Do first row members ever have special giveaways or receive additional entries?

Made by michellegolob at 01 Dec 15:29

I love Ideeli--I truly do.  But I am not feeling the added votes---I get it but still feel that one vote per person makes it much more fun and fair.

Made by anne_eilis at 01 Dec 16:43

I agree about the additional entries not seeming fair and also making it less fun.  I was glad to see that you posted a warning about people entering themselves under fake names, but that isn't going to prevent it from happening.  Perhaps you should consider at least limiting the number of additional entries per person.

As I mentioned in the Balenciaga giveaway, I think its a BAD idea. Who in their right mind actually knows 75 (or more) people that they could get to sign up for some random website? Keeping it simple is better for all.

Made by walelia03 at 01 Dec 17:03

Thanks for turning a fun free giveaway into yet another of life's popularity contests.  I agree with the others about the serious potential for cheating...

Made by catesfx at 01 Dec 17:08

Completey unfair. Pointless and unenjoyable.

And 75 "friends"? Utter bs, in my opinion.

I'm very disappointed in you Ideeli.

Made by medusa0 at 01 Dec 17:58

I don't like these changes at all and don't think Ideeli is making things better for anyone.

I liked Ideeli much more before when it was more exclusive.  Now with this adding friends/getting more entries for giveaways thing it seems just like every other web site.  If that is what you are going for, Ideeli, then you've done it.

Who wants to be like everyone else?  I certainly don't, which is why I joined and started shopping on this web site, spending hundreds of dollars in the process.  I thought Ideeli would like that and also like the fact that I paid to be a 1st row member.  I guess not?

Please return things to the way they were.   To be specific, I liked it when no one knew when 1. the sales started, 2. the giveaways started, and 3. no additional entries for anyone re: the giveaways.  It made it much more fun, special and exclusive for those of us "in the know!"

I can tell that people are already abusing this "getting additional entries" thing.  Now the giveaways are not as much fun and certainly not fair.  You are alienating the core members that joined Ideeli in the first place (and spend the most money), and I've no idea why you'd do that.

Sincerely

medusa0

Hi All,

We are evaluating all your comments about this new giveaway. With regards to falsification of members to gain entries we take this very seriously. ideeli is meant to be fun and fair for all so we will go to any lengths necessary to ensure that any member who participates in a giveaway does so in good faith.

We have already begun notifying those who are in violation of fake invitations that they have been disqualified from this drawing.

We will monitor all invites, if any, sent by the winner to determine legitimacy. If we uncover fake emails we will draw a new winner till a fair and legitimate winner has been found.

Best,

the ideeli team

Hi,
I find I am not receiving notice of all the items. I only received the Balenciaga notice and the ginette ny notice. Must you be in First Row to receive notices of new sales now? I only found out about the rest because I noticed the lambertson truex when checking out ginette ny, so I've been checking back periodically. Thankfully, because since then several others have been added, but I've received no notice.
I have been making purchases. I can't continue to do so if I don't get notified of a start time... Anyone I can check with at ideeli? ~e

Made by eeeeeeeeeeeeekk at 01 Dec 21:30

Hi, again,
And, no, they are not going to Junk mMail or being bounced. I'm getting some, not all alerts. I just want to hear about them all :)
Thank you ~e

I am with the others who think this is unfair. I think giveaways should be just one entry per person. Now my chances of winning are even further diminished. I know ideeli wants to expand the site, but this is ridiculous.

I'm really disappointed and frustrated by this news.

Made by fpoint99 at 01 Dec 22:42

To Ideeli:

I think I ended up in the top 10 with number of entries but I agree with the others here.  I think the one entry per person is the fair way to go with your giveaways.

I belong to a couple of hobby bb's so I asked them if they were interested and about 60 of them were!  Perhaps that's how the ones with the most entries got them.  But that isn't fair to your members who have jobs or children and no hobby boards to turn to.  Maybe their network connections are work related and not the type of bb where they can discuss handbags and giveaways! I'm sure that they have shared your site information with their personal friends already.

Please consider returning to the one entry per person rule.

Thank you.

I agree. I hate this new system (although I understand that the "tell a friend" thing doesn't apply to all giveaways), and I don't like the unchecked expansion of the site. Isn't it supposed to be smaller and more exclusive? If you want to eradicate the membership requirement, go ahead and do it. As it is now, you're rendering membership virtually meaningless.

Made by Judie1 at 02 Dec 01:08

I am loving "idelli"...THIS IS FUN!

As a newer member, I do want to share this site...but...I, too, am concerned about idelli not being kept small and exclusive.

Made by abby2 at 02 Dec 11:25

I just looked at the Balenciaga giveaway results and the #1 entry had 238 entries!! How is that possible? I am a newer member as well and have just made my first purchase so I don't know all the "tricks" and I'm not sure I want to know them. I want it to be fun and fair and have the opportunity to buy some great stuff at affordable prices.

Made by lilyp12120 at 03 Dec 23:40

hey ideeli!! this webiste is FANTASTICCC!!! i just signed up for this website. WHY DIDN'T I FIND THIS WEBSITE BEFORE!!! anyways i really want to win this balenciaga!!! i agree with abby2. #1 had 238 entries....that is not fair. I think everybody should have an equal share of votings. you know? anyways i really want to win this bag so please~~~ pick me!! ahaha. (i do not know how this works but here it is!)

Made by lrolfe at 15 Dec 14:18

I agree with everyone about the giveaways.  Why even bother entering when one person might have 30 people to invite?  And then those 30 people enter on their own the next time there is a giveaway.  The means even less of a chance to win.  No fun here!  And so funny about the "Sequins" comment.  I design apparel and that was hilarious. !!

Made by jessicahirsch at 18 Dec 15:15

I agree with the previous comment about enjoying Ideeli more when it was more exclusive. These days it seems like every blog I go on is offering a code to join Ideeli. I get that you need members to make $$, but couldn't you let the growth happen more organically??

Made by sunnydog at 18 Dec 16:38

I can't understand why you would need 100+ new members per giveaway when all the sales usually sell out with the members you already have...

Is there some place where the winners post about having won, share their excitement, etc? My husband is the original skeptic and wants to see for himself that people are winning these bags.

I'm new to your site so if everybody knows this but me, I apologize in advance.

Casinos (for example) use quotes/photos of their winners all the time in their promotions to convey the idea that real people actually are winning. It makes it seem a lot more real and accessible, but also gives the contests more credibility in a jaded world.

Thanks. :)

Made by reverielarke at 19 Mar 14:31

OK, I'm finally getting a bit annoyed. IF people are winning these bags, who/where are they? If you guys are on the up and up, then show us something, give us some indication. I'm seeing a lot of disgruntled people here at this site for a variety of reasons, and unless you attempt to shake out the problems all this negative chat is going to catch up with you guys.

It seemed like a cool idea when I joined, but now it's starting to raise caution flags for me.

Thanks.
